Yay for ridiculously long delays between posts!
It's only been what, a year? Whatev, time flies anyways.
Right now I'm at JCL Nationals, which is RIDICULOUSLY, AWESOMELY boring. I mean, don't get me wrong, JCL is all cool and stuff, but honestly? I have nothing to do. I woke up at like, 7, and other than eat meals, I've only had to go out once to an assembly for like, 2 hours. But I can't sleep now, because we have a Fellowship meeting at like, midnight. Yay! But seriously, it sucks. I'm just not involved at all. All I have to pass the time is texting, my iPod, and lying down (but not allowed to fall asleep!) I seriously don't need to be here for a week, but hey, I have no voice. Probably because I don't do anything... Oh well. Wednesday's almost over, then Thursday... And Friday... And the flight Saturday... But then I'm home! Not that I have any rest. I have to do some crazy Calc BC review packet that I shoulda been working on all summer, but you know how that works. I also have to read the Dante Club, and reread A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is a terrific book btw, Khaled Hosseini kicks butt. If that's how you spell his name... He's still good though.
In a strange way, I can't wait for school to be back in session. I mean ya, classes suck, getting up early sucks, homework sucks, teachers can be suckish, rules suck, grades suck, and there is a general air of suckishness, but at least I can drive there now. And be out by about 1=) Even though I have to get up ridiculously early and everyone knows I won't be able to go to sleep early. I'll pay the price once it catches up with me=) Until then I'll have my fun.
So we're working on a new song in my band. Who's name we're not even sure of. Neverast? The Quiet? Sloan? Revolution Rising? I dunno. Point is, we're working on a new song, that sounds alot like Modest Mouse, but they're fun, so we'll be fine. The lyrics are sort of difficult, but I'll work on it. If only our drummer would realize we're not death metal... Or out guitarist realized we aren't Trapt... Or our bassist realizes we aren't Beastie Boys... Or I realize we're not Rascal Flatts or Plain White T's. We'll pull it together, and if we don't, then we won't. Great how life works, no?
Oh so btw I think I'm singing tonight at Fellowship, because I missed last night's mandatory fellowship. I think I'm gonna have to sing Barbie Girl or I'm a Little Teapot. I'll have it recorded and posted, if I can. Until then, yall can imagine my singing on the MAO bus, or in the shower, or in my car.
So I think I'm out for tonight, ttyl!

Harry Potter?
So the other day my cousin and I were watching Harry Potter 5 on HBO. They've been playing it nonstop the past few days. So I asked myself, who do I relate to the most? Is it Harry himself? Voldemort? Dumbledore? So I ask my readers who they think I am most like. My cousin insists that I am like Hermione and Voldemort, with some Harry and Ron mixed in. Many different interpretations exist for the characters, so I don't think everyone will be in agreement.
Am I...
~Harry? The leader, the courageous, the sometimes selfish?
~Ron? The loyal, the easily discouraged, the spoiled?
~Hermione? The studious, the down-to-earth, the stubborn?
~Dumbledore? The wise, the guiding spirit, the powerful?
~Voldemort? The evil, the manipulative, the power-hungry?
~Draco? Typical antagonist, childish, sadistic?
~Sirius? Fatherly, inspirational, brave?
~The Weasley Twins? Fun-loving, centers of attention, rebellious?
~Neville? Clumsy, victimized, but ultimately brave and loyal?
~Luna? Spiritual, philosophical, mysterious?
If you have any other suggestions, feel free to tell me and give reasons please=)
My take: I have little of all... So I don't know

Transvestite Toilet
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25234970/
Apparently in a rural secondary school in Thailand has created a bathroom for "transvestites' due to the growing number of students who claim. (About 200 out of 2,600 considered themselves transvestites)
What is our society becoming?

Might As Well Start Again
Doggy Paddle
It's been WAY too long. Let's see, things that've happened. Ah! Yesterday I was doing laps in my pool (breast stroke only with arms back and forth), and I decided to mess with my dog. See, Katie's been scared of water ever since she almost drowned as a pup. So I decided to pretend to be dead in the pool. You know, face down, no movement, all that good stuff. She spazzed, barked a few times, and FINALLY jumped in to save me. It was amazing. Until she realized she was in water, and literally bounded out of the pool. But hey, step by step. We'll have to see. I swam a bit after that, and went in. Later that day, I took Katie on a walk, and was then dragged around the neighborhood. I mean, normally I can keep control of her, but there's something that made her crazy powerful. Chlorine might be poisonous to her... She's already half-retarded...

Off Topic
This is totally off topic, but I decided I'd post my essay for English II. I won't tell you the prompt, because if I did it right, the prompt should scream at you from the essay.
The Brilliance of Technology
Think of your daily routine. Now think how different it would be without the technologies available to us. Technology is truly an enormous influence on our daily lives. Technology allows people to gain greater knowledge of the world and its affairs, foster relations, and gain greater convenience in their everyday lives. Technology has changed the 21st century, and is quickly becoming a rising influence in daily life.
Technology allows the quick diffusion of ideas, news, and other issues amongst the world population. The speed and power of modern day machinery is truly mind-boggling. Every morning, people wake up from a night of sleep and prepare for their day. Some retrieve their morning newspaper, and read about the past day’s events and future events. However, many more people log onto their computers and read about local, national, and international issues, some which might have surfaced as little as a few minutes ago! Throughout the rest of their day, people can receive news alerts via PDA, computer, cell phone, and countless other electronic devices. Technology allows the permanent storage of scientific, mathematical, and other ideas, for future expansion and for present-day application. Scientists constantly use the work of past thinkers in their experiments, and are able to quickly and conveniently pull up this information with just a few clicks of a mouse. Without modern day technology, the circulation of news and ideas would be greatly diminished.
From global economic relations to personal relations, technology allows easier and more widespread communication between a variety of different parties. For example, think of your life without a phone or email. Now think of the world economy without phones or email. How would the stock market be constantly updated? How would you be able to arrange get-togethers with your friends at the spur of a moment? With the technology offered to the modern world, we are allowed so many more freedoms and opportunities of advancement. Modern-day communication equipment allows you to call grandma on her birthday, and allow her to hear her grandchild’s voice. Modern-day communication allows American and Japanese companies coordinate sales prices and shipments. It is hard to imagine a world without these innovations, which we take as necessities.
However, technology has, without a doubt, made our lives much more convenient. From the coffee machine in the morning to the car you drive to work, technology allows us to do advanced tasks efficiently, and is constantly changing so that we may do things even better. With the advanced technology of the 21st century, people can log onto their computer, listen to music, do work, and chat with their friends at the same time. The person could then drive to the store in their car, buy what they need, come home, and eat a meal cooked on a stove or in an oven. They can then place the dishes in the dishwasher, watch some TV, then go to sleep. When they wake up in the morning, they put on a fresh pot of coffee, and listen to the morning news on the radio. How could a person do all this without modern technology? One of these tasks could take the entire day, and some tasks, whether leisure or business, wouldn’t even exist. Without question, technology has allowed the human race greater convenience in their everyday lives.
So whether it be the spread of ideas, the communication between parties, or greater convenience in our lives, technology has truly changed our everyday routine, and allowed us greater leisure, efficiency, and power. Without technology, the world as we know it would definitely not be what it is now. So next time you wake up and start your day, think about what you’re doing, and think about what would change if there was not modern technology.
Any suggestions?

Additional Reasons
Here are some additional reasons I think people make friendships.
To Get Closer
Attempts to get closer to people can be good and bad. I'll focus on the bad (and promise that I'll run out of pessimistic reasons soon). There are many sadistic reasons for getting closer to people, usually to acquire something that you can't normally get.
People- Some sick souls (SS) out there pretend to be friends with one person (A), when in reality trying to get closer to another (B). B might be a friend of A's, or perhaps a relative. SS becomes great friends with A, so they can communicate more freely, more often, and less suspiciously with B. Therefore, through A, SS gets access to B. If SS "gets" B, as a girlfriend/boyfriend or something, A becomes expendable and ignored. Pain to A, and unfairness to B.
Benefits (including objects)- Perhaps A has something or some benefits, due to his or her job or something. SS uses A, getting all close and gross to A, claiming deep friendship. SS becomes such a great friend with A that A decides to let SS in to his/her benefits. SS gets to use these to his/her advantage, and when SS gets enough or loses interest, A is hurt and even sometimes punished.
To Mislead Them
Some other sick motherf... people want to mislead their "friend," for another real friend or for their own gain. This somewhat connects to the first reason, influence. I like the SS and A examples, so here we go. SS wants something done or wants to prevent A from doing something. This is because SS's friend desires such, and SS would do anything for his/her friend. SS becomes close to A, until they're nice and close. A would do anything for his/her alleged "friend," (oh the irony) considers SS's idea, and either follows it or must give much thought and energy into it. This can apply to elections, jobs, other friends, and countless other examples. A always ends up hurt, and the dreadful duo are happy with the results.
Pessimism stops here, I think.

Friend Series
So, I've decided to start a series of posts about something that I've been pondering on for awhile. Friends. Well, friendship in general. Why are they made? What happens that can tear them apart? What is a "good" friend? Hopefully this series will clarify many people's ideas on the complex nature of friendship, and allow us to see it from a different person's point of view.
So here's the first string. Why friendships are made. Here are two reasons, albeit somewhat sinful.
Power and influence (in other words, using them)
We've all made one or two, or maybe more friends just for their support. Whether it be any issue or election, we've made and seen people make friends just for their vote. It's definitely not good, but we all do it unconsciously. Some consciously. Recently, an election took place at my school, and there was much finger pointing at who was being unfair to who. If you can pull off using someone, it's pretty much done, but if you can't, it reflects horribly. For example, sidling up real close to someone and being all gooey and "flirty," nudging them, and then saying, "Hey, you're voting for me, right?" Some people just eat this up. Same with compliments. Sure, you can be naturally friendly, but some can see when you're being too friendly. However, the majority of people eat up these compliments, failing to look deeper into why they might be being made. There are extremes to the use of friendship for power. Whether it be just complimenting someone or going out with someone else who is influential, the use of friendship as a tool of influence will always remain as an evil.
Pity
If you're naturally a nice person, it's hard to avoid becoming friends with the new kid, or the kid no one likes. You see them in the corner, avoiding everyone's stares, and you feel the need to go up and talk to them, see how they are, and hopefully gain them some friends. I know many kind-hearted people who would do this, and have in the past. Making friends due to pity is commonplace for some people, whether it be a conscious reaction or not. However, some question the legitimacy of these friendships. Will they last as long as so called "real" friendships? Will they drift apart after the new kid makes new friends? What if the new kid doesn't want to be friends with anyone? Who knows? All that's for sure is that pity friendships exist, me having made a few. Sure, we've drifted, but some remain close, and as good as any other friend. Pity friendships will always remain, although in smaller proportions, due to the selfishness and materialism of modern society.
More to come
